Family physician
Dr. Couvrette was a concert pianist for many years before she became a physician.
She traveled and pursued graduate studies in music including a performers diploma in the United States at the prestigious Jacob’s school of Music where she was part of Andre Watts’ studio and studied under other prestigious musical figures including in Paris amongst other places. While living in New York City, she reoriented her career and started volunteering in the emergency room as part of the premedical program of the School of General Studies of Columbia University in the City of New York where she developed an interest for acute care medicine.
She also was involved in research and teaching, as she completed her studies in music, in biochemistry, and while pursuing her medical studies at McGill University.
Having quite a broad range of interest, Dr. Couvrette opted to train in family medicine at the University of Ottawa. Since then, she is an assistant professor at McGill University in clinical medicine. She also works at the Montreal University Health Center at the Emergency department (Short Stay Unit) and at the GMF-U CLSC Metro. She is engaged in her teaching activities and keeping up to date with the latest evidence in medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys physical activities, arts, as well as traveling and the great outdoors.
