Sport Medicine Consultations

Orthopaedic Surgery Consultations

An orthopaedic surgeon is a medical specialist in the area of injuries related to the musculoskeletal system (joints, bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments). Our orthopedic surgery colleagues collaborate in determining the necessity for surgical intervention. Our orthopaedic specialists work with the AXiO team to assist you in returning to physical activity, sport and work in a timely and efficient manner. Please note that a medical reference is required for all orthopaedic surgery consultations. These consultations are covered by RAMQ.

Concussion Management Services

The Concussion Evaluation and Treatment Program was created under the guidance of AXiO’s emergency physician Dr. J. Scott Delaney, head physician to the Cirque du Soleil and recipient of the Dr. Tom Pashby Sports Safety Fund Award honouring outstanding contributions toward the prevention of catastrophic injuries in sport and recreational activities. Dr. Delaney and Dr. Gabrielle Ostiguy are AXiO Health Group’s current Concussion Program physicians downtown. and Dr. Gaetan Drolet takes care of patients at the AXiO Sport Medicine Clinic in Vaudreuil. They work with AXiO’s team of osteopaths, athletic therapists and physiotherapists specializing in vestibular rehabilitation.

This program is available to individuals who wish to be evaluated prior to involvement in exercise or performing arts activities after head injury has occurred. AXiO Health Group’s Concussion Management Program includes the same tests that are currently used by the National Hockey League, the Canadian Football League, the Canadian Olympic teams, the Cirque du Soleil and other elite and professional sports teams and performing arts companies.

Athletic Therapy

All of AXiO’s athletic therapists are Canadian Athletic Therapists Association certified. Adhering to a sports medicine model of care, our professionals work hard to return recreational and professional athletes and performing artists back to sport and work whether it be the playing field or the stage. In collaboration AXiO’s interdisciplinary team of sport medicine physicians, physiotherapists, massage therapists, osteopaths, and others, our athletic therapists aim to quickly rehabilitate your injury resulting in faster recovery and reduced chance of further injury.

Osteopathy

Our dynamic osteopathy team brings international expertise to restore function in the body and treat pain and imbalance. They use their highly developed palpation skills to work with the position, mobility and quality of the tissues. Orthotics, taping and bandaging services

A foot orthotic is a device that can be discretely inserted into the shoe to support, align, prevent and/or accommodate foot abnormalities and improve how the foot functions.

Used in conjunction with appropriate footwear, a foot orthotic can be effective in helping to treat a number of foot and lower limb problems including heel pain, shin splints, arch pain, foot pain and knee pain. Foot orthotics can also help address foot and lower limb pain and complications related to health conditions such as diabetes and arthritis.
