Dr Penny-Jane Baylis

Dr Penny-Jane Baylis is a primary care sports medicine and family physician and faculty lecturer at the McGill Family Medicine department. She serves as the head team physician for Le Rocket de Laval hockey club.

After graduating in physiotherapy at McGill University, she worked as a therapist at the Montreal General Hospital and the McGill Sport Medicine Clinic, covering the McGill Redmen and Martlet hockey teams from 1987 to 1997. She received her medical degree from the University of the West Indies and completed her family medicine residency at Dalhousie University. While in Halifax, she developed a post-graduate sport medicine curriculum for the University. She has been associated with the Montreal Alouettes medical staff since 2006, during which time she completed the Edmond Ricard Primary Care Sport Medicine Fellowship. She has served as a consulting sport medicine physician to the Montreal Canadiens Hockey Club and was the Montreal Chief Medical Officer for the World Junior Hockey tournament. She currently works and teaches at the Montreal General Hospital and the McGill Sport Medicine Clinic. She is a past co-director of the McGill University Sports Medicine Fellowship Program and presently serves as the team physician for the McGill Redmen Hockey, Basketball and Lacrosse teams. Dr. Baylis has also served as team therapist for the Concordia and Vanier Football teams.
